If you put the ends of the hose out the sides of the box, you can fill it with expanding foam to isolate it better

I've been proposing this since Sam was a preschooler. It works, obviously. The problem is that the characteristics that make it possible for a hose to be flexible enough to coil up like that are the very same properties that will result in it absorbing acoustic energy, especially in the mids and highs. I mean, imagine if the legendary reverb room at Abbey Road was coated in foam rubber. Ideally, one wants the stiffest tube/hose possible, and have it laid out straight, rather than coiled. Of course, the sonic approach of this dynamic duo is to bravely use whatever the setup actually does, rather than aim for any sort of sublime sonic perfection. I might point out that one should also be mindful of hose/tube internal properties when using it for a "talkbox" that conducts speaker output through a hose to a musician's mouth.
